CALDWELL TANKS, INC. AWARDED SPECIAL STORAGE TANK OF THE YEAR FROM STI/SPFA

LOUISVILLE, KY MARCH 1, 2017: Louisville based Caldwell Tanks, Inc. was awarded the Special Storage Tank of the Year by Steel Tank Institute/Steel Plate Fabricators Association for 2016. This is Caldwell’s fifth Tank of the year award presented by STI/SPFA since 2012 and the second year in a row Caldwell won in two different categories. Over all Caldwell has been presented with 17 Tank of the Year awards.

The project consisted of a total of (17) Carbon Steel Tanks built for Chevron Phillips Chemical Cedar, Bayou Plant, located in Baytown, TX. Over 10,000 people worked on this project with a cost of over $6 billion. It is as large as 50 football fields and used over 350 miles of steel piping. The tanks were built for process and storage needs of the World Scale Ethane Cracker which is the first world scale cracker to be built in the United States in almost 20 years. This addition to the Cedar Bayou plant increased ethylene production by over 3.3 Billion pounds per year.

CALDWELL TANKS, INC. AWARDED 2016 STANDPIPE – TANK OF THE YEAR FROM STI/SPFA

LOUISVILLE, KY February 24, 2017: Louisville based Caldwell Tanks, Inc. was awarded the 2016 Tank of the Year – Standpipe by Steel Tank Institute/Steel Plate Fabricators Association for its Thermal Energy Storage (TES) project in Galveston, TX on the University of Texas Medical Branch campus. The 2016 Tank of the Year, completed in September 2016, was engineered by the multi-discipline technical consulting firm AEI and Tellepsen Builders, L.P. served as the project General Contractor. This is the second year in a row that Caldwell was awarded Tank of the Year by STI/SPFA in multiple categories.

With very limited real estate in a resort town, as well as adjacent structures, Caldwell was challenged to build the 2,070,000 Gallon, 65ft. diameter, 87ft. high Chilled Water Thermal Energy Storage Tank. Located right off the shore of the Texas Gulf Coast, the Ike Recovery Infrastructure and Thermal Energy Storage (TES) Tank was designed to create and store 16,000 Ton Hours of thermal energy for cooling and campus efficiency.
